Spain edge Italy 1-0 to reach Euro 2024 semi-finals
Riccardo Calafiori's own goal sends Spain through
Spain booked their place in the semi-finals of Euro 2024 with a narrow 1-0 victory over Italy in Gelsenkirchen on Saturday.
The only goal of the game came in the 60th minute when Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
Spain had the better of the chances throughout the game and were unlucky not to score more goals.
Italy, who were without the suspended Giorgio Chiellini, struggled to create chances and rarely threatened the Spanish goal.
Spain will now face either England or Ukraine in the semi-finals, while Italy will head home.
